Police investigate Grangemouth baton attack and robbery

Police are investigating after a teenager was attacked with a wooden baton and robbed in Grangemouth.

The 17-year-old was assaulted at Earn Court at about 19:30 on Tuesday and robbed of a quantity of cigarettes.

The assailant was about 5ft tall, of medium build, and was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood up. He had a white scarf partially covering his face.

Det Insp Graeme Hendry said the "unprovoked attack" could have had "serious consequences".

He said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a young man who was walking home.

"Whilst his injuries were minor the consequences could have been more serious and accordingly I am appealing to the public for information.

"Please be assured that incidents of this nature are extremely rare and that we are totally committed to identifying the assailant."
