T in the Park organisers have welcomed feedback on a proposed move to Strathallan Castle gathered in canvassing at public meetings.

Festival organisers DF Concerts held public forums about the move in Auchterarder and Crieff.

A survey of attendees found 49% of respondents strongly supportive of the move, while 20% were opposed to it.

Consultations continue and a full planning application will be submitted to Perth and Kinross Council.

An environmental impact assessment is to be carried out as part of the planning process.

DF Concerts selected Strathallan from more than 100 potential locations after deciding to move on from the festival's home of 17 years at Balado.

'Very positive'

A total of 277 people attended the meetings on Wednesday and Thursday, which allowed festival bosses to explain their plans to local residents.

Of these, 128 people filled in questionnaire on leaving, with 49.2% very supportive of the move, 17.2% quite supportive, 13.3% undecided and 20.3% not supportive.

A spokeswoman for DF Concerts said the meeting had been a "very positive step forward".

She said: "We been extremely pleased with the turn out for the local consultation meetings over the last couple of days. They have been both productive and informative.

"More than 270 people came to speak to our extended team about the proposed plans for traffic, environment, noise, security and community liaison amongst other areas.

"We'd like to thank everyone that took the time to attend, ask questions and make suggestions and we can assure you that these will be taken on board."
