A 25-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with assaulting a toddler at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Falkirk.

Jodi Mitchell, from Selkirk, is accused of lifting up the two-year-old girl by the head and shaking her by the body.

It is further alleged she dragged the child along the ground at Falkirk's Central Retail Park on 6 February. She also faces an alternative charge of using threatening or abusive language.

Mitchell pleaded not guilty to both charges, and will stand trial in May.

Mitchell appeared from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court to deny the principle and alternative charge, which alleges she swore and acted aggressively towards the girl.

She was released on bail.
