Police search after woman attacked in Inchture

Police have been carrying out a major search operation in the village of Inchture near Dundee after a young woman was assaulted.

The incident happened at the rear of a property in Orchard Way at about 08:50.

The 27-year-old woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital but her injuries were not thought to be serious.

The suspect, who was not known to the victim, ran off. A helicopter and police dogs were involved in the operation to try to find him.

He was described as being in his late 20s, of stocky build with dark hair and was wearing a shiny blue top and black bottoms.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A significant number of officers are in the area at this time conducting investigations into the incident, including specialist police dogs.

"Anyone who has information which might assist officers is requested to call 101, speak to any officers or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
