Tyres on 30 cars slashed in Forfar amid vandalism spree

Police are investigating after the tyres were slashed on more than 30 vehicles in Forfar in the early hours.

About £10,000 was caused to cars at Wellbraehead, Bell Place, Goosecroft, Queen Street and Green Street.

Some cars had all four tyres slashed. Police are searching for a man seen in the area at about 01:20.

Officers had earlier appealed for information in relation to more than 65 vehicles being damaged in Arbroath, Perth and Blairgowrie.

The man seen in the area is described as being about 6ft tall, wearing a black bomber jacket and black jeans. He was last seen in the area of Wellbraehead.

'Substantial impact'

Insp Ally Robertson said: "This further instance of vandalism in Angus is an appalling crime and I urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

"Many of those affected by this morning's damage rely on their vehicles to travel to work, take their children to school, attend appointments, visit relatives - any number of reasons which will now be completely disrupted.

"No doubt the unnecessary expense of repairing the damage caused will also have a substantial impact on individuals and families alike.

"Officers will be making extensive enquiries into this incident to trace the person responsible, if you have any information please get in contact."
