Dropped caravan money returned to Perth householder

A woman who sparked a police appeal after picking up a large sum of money dropped by a Perth householder has returned the cash to its owner.

The woman was seen on CCTV picking the bundle of notes off the ground in Murray Terrace, Perth, on Friday.

The woman will not face criminal charges as officers said there was "no intent to deprive the owner of the money".

A police spokeswoman confirmed the cash had been returned.

Officers initially treated the incident as theft and issued a description of the woman.

Maxine Stronach, who dropped the money, said it was a substantial amount which was going to be used to buy a caravan.

She appealed for information on her Facebook page and published CCTV images taken from a camera outside her property, but has now removed the posts.

The woman was seen flicking through the cash before walking towards the city centre.
