Teenager drove stolen car at 80mph in Perth city centre

A teenage joyrider drove at more than 80mph through Perth city centre in a stolen car, a court has heard.

Barry Dixon, 19, went through four sets of red lights and drove on the wrong side of the road in the Ford Fiesta.

He was banned from driving on an interim basis at Perth Sheriff Court and sentence was deferred for the preparation of reports.

Dixon, of Dundee Road, Perth, had admitted driving dangerously on various roads in and around the city.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to obey red traffic lights at Gowrie Street, Queens Bridge, Bute Drive and the Inveralmond roundabout.

Dixon further admitted taking and driving away the vehicle from Ruthvenfield Road in Perth and driving without insurance.
