Police probe after woman's body found

Police in Dundee have launched an investigation after the sudden death of a 34-year-old woman in the city centre.

The woman's body was found at about 23:00 on Thursday at the top of a flight of stairs behind commercial premises in the Nethergate.

The area was cordoned off by police with scenes of crime officers working at the location on Friday morning.

Police said there were "no apparent suspicious circumstances" surrounding the woman's death.

It is understood that the woman is from Fife.

Detective Inspector Paul Riley said: "Officers attended in the Nethergate, Dundee at around 22:55 last night following a report of the sudden death of a 34-year-old woman.

"Her next of kin have been informed.

"Officers will be carrying out further enquiries, however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
