Police are continuing the search for a man seen entering the River Tay at Dundee at the weekend.

Reports of a male in the water on Saturday afternoon sparked a major operation involving the coastguard and both Broughty Ferry lifeboats.

A coastguard helicopter circled the river between both Tay bridges for several hours on Saturday evening.

Police confirmed the search would resume on Monday - the coastguard and lifeboats are not currently involved.

A coastguard spokeswoman said units from Montrose, Carnoustie and St Andrews, as well as a helicopter from Inverness, took part in the search operation on Saturday.

The spokeswoman said a smaller search took place between 02:15 and 06:30 on Sunday and that the matter was now a "police-led incident."
