A convicted sex offender who absconded from HMP Castle Huntly on Friday has been traced.

Police issued an appeal after Brian Travers was reported missing from the open prison near Dundee.

Police Scotland had warned members of the public not to approach the 43-year-old, who they said had connections in Edinburgh and Fife.

A police spokeswoman confirmed Travers was traced on Tuesday morning and thanked the public for its assistance.
