Bogus workmen steal pensioner's jewellery

Police in Grangemouth are investigating the "despicable" theft of jewellery from a pensioner by two bogus workmen.

The men gained access to the elderly woman's home on Dalgrain Road on Wednesday but were caught in the act and ran off onto Clyde Street.

Officers said the victim was left upset, but not harmed in the incident.

Both of the men were wearing high-visibilty vests with writing on the back and they used a small white van, possibly with "09" on the registration.

Sgt Craig Heron said: "This is a despicable crime where a vulnerable person has been targeted.

"Rest assured that we will do everything possible to identify and apprehend those responsible.

"I would ask that members of the public remain vigilant to this type of crime and keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours."
