Man is seriously assaulted in Dundee lane

A 47-year-old man has been seriously assaulted in a lane beside Dundee's bus station.

Police said the man was attacked in Sugarhouse Wynd in the Seagate area of the city at about 21:00 on Thursday.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital after sustaining an injury to his hand during the incident.

His attacker was described as a black male, who is about 40 years old, of slim build, with short dark hair and who was wearing dress trousers.

The man was also wearing a dark jacket with a light-coloured top underneath.

Officers said the victim, who is also black, was wearing a navy tracksuit with red sleeves, and had a goatee beard and glasses.
