Dundee water mains upgrade ahead of schedule
The first section of a £5m upgrade of water mains in Dundee has been completed ahead of schedule.
Two-way traffic in the Perth Road and Nethergate areas has now been restored following the work, which began in July.
The next stage work is taking place on City Road and Lochee Road before moving on to the Blackness Road area
The work involves lining and flushing existing water mains, as well as some open cut mains replacement.
Scottish Water said the first phase of the work was completed three days ahead of schedule.
West End Councillor Fraser Macpherson said: "I think everyone locally appreciates that the infrastructure works that have taken place in Nethergate, Perth Road and surrounding streets in recent weeks were necessary to ensure clean water supply into the future.
"We have a great shopping area in the Perth Road and Nethergate and its good to see the return of traffic flow normality in the area including the buses in both directions."
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's community team manager for Dundee, said: "While these essential works were carried out in the Perth Road area the local residents and businesses have been patient and understanding of the job our contractors have been doing and Scottish Water would like to thank them for that."
