A man responsible for a spate of housebreakings in the Falkirk area has been jailed for five years.

Ross Brown targeted ten residential and business premises in Falkirk, Carron and Stenhousemuir over the course of a fortnight in November and December last year.

E-cigarettes, electronic goods and commercial building tools were among the items stolen by Brown.

The 39-year-old was sentenced at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Insp Graham Mackin said: "The arrest of Ross Brown and detection of these crimes was not only the result of proactive work by the community investigation unit and uniformed resources, but also the vital assistance and support of the public.

"Through the information provided by the local communities, we were able to charge Brown with numerous housebreakings, for which he will now serve a five-year custodial sentence."
