Tillicoultry brick attack investigated as hate crime

Police are investigating a hate crime after a brick was thrown through the window of a Syrian family's home in Clackmannanshire.

The incident happened at about 00:25 on Thursday at a house in Chapelle Crescent, Tillicoultry.

No-one was injured, but officers described it as a "horrendous attack" which they are treating as a hate crime.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Ch Insp Andrew Sinclair said: "We take all reports of hate crime very seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

"Our officers are carrying out inquiries and will be conducting high-visibility patrols in the local area over the coming days.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any other information that can assist our investigation, to get in touch with us soon as possible."
