Arbroath Infirmary's medical unit has been closed to new admissions after an outbreak of influenza A.

NHS Tayside said a "small number" of patients in the ward are being monitored and "enhanced infection control precautions" are in place to control the spread of the virus.

The health board said the ward was closed to new admissions on Friday.

It has asked people to avoid visiting the ward, if possible, to help reduce the spread of infection.
