A 15-year-old boy who died in an incident involving an off-road motorcycle in Bridgend has been named as Daniel Edwards.

The teenager, from the Newcastle area of Bridgend, had a passion for motorcycling and dreamed of being a bike mechanic, his family said.

The incident happened last Wednesday in fields near the Court Colman Hotel in the Bryntirion area.

A 21-year-old man was questioned by police but has been released on bail.

Daniel was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

His family have paid tribute to him, saying: "Motorcycling was his passion.

"He had just embarked upon his GCSE course at the Bethlehem Life Centre in Cefn Cribwr; success at which would have enabled him to fulfil his future dream of becoming a motorcycle mechanic.

"Dan was a young man who worked hard at his lessons, was making excellent progress and had a great sense of fun. The many friends he made in his class will miss him greatly.

"We will never forget the love and friendship so many of you showed towards him."
