Road reopens after crash between Welshpool and Newtown

A road has reopened in Powys after two lorries collided between Welshpool and Newtown.

Dyfed-Powys Police said two people were seriously hurt but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The crash happened at 0622 BST on Thursday and blocked the A483 road near the village of Berriew for more than six hours.

Mid and West Wales Fire Service said two crews were sent to the scene, from Montgomery and Welshpool.

The fire service added that a load from one of the lorries had spilled onto the carriageway.
