Motorist, 84, plunges into garden in Pentre, Rhondda

An 84-year-old man was taken to hospital after his car plunged 20ft (6m) into a garden.

The vehicle went through a wall at Pleasant View in Pentre, Rhondda, on Monday evening, said South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The man, from Treorchy, was rescued from his car by firefighters and taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

Police said his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

"South Wales Police received a report at 8.50pm on Monday, 14th February of an overturned silver Renault Megane car with an 84-year-old male from Treorchy trapped inside," said a spokesperson for the force.

"He was taken to Royal Glamorgan Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening."
