Driver 19, dies after Aberdare car and van collision

A 19-year-old driver has died following a crash involving a car and a Transit van.

South Wales Police said the vehicles collided on Cwmbach Road, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, near the magistrates court, at about 0700 GMT on Wednesday.

The driver of a grey Volkswagen Polo was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, where he later died.

The 37-year-old van driver was treated for minor injuries in hospital.

The road was closed until about 1150 GMT while the collision was investigated.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet contacted them to call the Roads Policing Unit on 02920 633 438, or 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
