Afan Taf High School in Merthyr hit by flooding

A 1,000-pupil high school in Merthyr is partially closed after torrential rain caused flooding and damaged several classrooms.

Afon Taf High School deputy head teacher Cliff Smith said the school was currently open to years 11,12, and 13.

More serious damage was prevented as staff happened to be present for a sixth-form induction evening.

Drying out has begun and it is expected the school will reopen to all pupils on Wednesday.
