Fives arrests over security van raid at Welshpool Tesco

Police have arrested five people in connection with the late-night robbery of a security van at a Tesco store in Powys.

The "cash in transit" robbery happened in Welshpool at around 2345 BST on Monday.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they had arrested five people from the Wolverhampton area and released them on bail pending further inquiries.

A quantity of cash was taken from a vehicle belonging to security firm G4S.

Det Insp Greg Williams said: "The five persons arrested have been interviewed by detectives at Newtown police station and have been bailed for further enquiries to continue."

He appealed to witnesses who saw a black Audi S4 coupe (registration RY54 SZX) and blue Mercedes C180 Kompressor coupe (registration YE51 YBY) on Monday, or in the days before the attack, to contact police.
