Former Plaid Cymru chairman Dr Dafydd Huws dies at 75
Tributes have been paid to a former chairman of Plaid Cymru who has died at the age of 75.
As well as serving as chairman in the late 1980s, Dr Dafydd Huws was the party's first local councillor in Cardiff during the 1970s.
Plaid leader Ieuan Wyn Jones said Dr Huws had made "a huge contribution to the national movement" over many years.
A psychiatrist, he was also prominent in the development of wind farms in Wales.
Dr Huws had been suffering from cancer.
Mr Jones said: "Dafydd was a hugely significant figure in Plaid Cymru and we owe him so much.
"I remember the way he offered great leadership, friendship and guidance to so many of us over the years.
"His passion and commitment to his nation and to his distinguished medical career was clear for all to see.
"Our thoughts are with Rhian and the family."
