England riots: Four men remanded on Facebook charges

Four men have been remanded in custody by courts in Cardiff and Caernarfon, charged with using Facebook to encourage riots.

Anthony Gristock, 23, previously denied posting information capable of encouraging or assisting violent disorder in Cardiff and Swansea.

Jamie Counsell, 24, did not enter a plea.

Thomas Hughes, 19, and Jack Johnston Lewis, 18, of Caergwrle, Flintshire, appeared on claims involving Wrexham.

They were charged with encouraging a riot after alleged comments posted on the social networking site involving the nearby town of Wrexham.

They had been bailed by magistrates but were remanded in custody at a preliminary hearing at Caernarfon crown court.

In a separate case, Mr Gristock and Mr Counsell were remanded in custody when they appeared before Cardiff magistrates on Friday.

Their cases were adjourned to 2 September for committal to the crown court.
