Man charged after police car collision in Neath Abbey

A man has been charged with driving dangerously after a car collided with a marked South Wales Police vehicle.

The Port Talbot man, 45, is also charged with driving while disqualified, assault causing grievous bodily harm, using a vehicle without insurance and two burglaries.

He appeared at Swansea Magistrates' Court on Sunday morning.

A police officer remains in hospital with serious back injuries following Tuesday's incident at Neath Abbey.

South Wales Police said the man, was who arrested on Saturday, was remanded in custody for a further hearing at Swansea Crown Court on 8 November.

The incident happened at 11:25 BST on Tuesday near St Matthew's Church.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
