Five post-boxes destroyed by explosions in Lampeter
Five post-boxes have been destroyed in a "spate" of explosions in Ceredigion.
Dyfed-Powys Police say they are looking at the possibility that fireworks were placed inside the rural post-boxes in the Lampeter area.
The explosions destroyed the post inside and damaged adjacent roads due to the force of the impact.
Police say the explosions have the potential to cause serious injury, and are calling for witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: "This complete disregard for public safety, and the Royal Mail post and their workers, is causing serious concern.
"The devices used and the resulting explosions have the potential to cause serious injury to passing pedestrians and damage to vehicles.
"The public are asked to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police to assist them in identifying and prosecuting the offenders."
Police said similar incidents happened in November in the Lampeter area three years ago.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
