Car parts firm Cobra opens in Wrexham creating 49 jobs
Nearly 50 jobs will be created when a car components company opens a new factory in Wrexham in a £6.5m expansion.
Welshpool-based Cobra UK Automotive Products has secured a £12m contract with Vauxhall Motors.
The firm makes interior car parts for some of the world's leading motor manufacturers including Bentley Audi and Volvo.
Cobra supplies markets in Europe, Canada and Brazil.
The firm has taken over a 70,000 sq ft building on Wrexham Industrial Estate.
It was previously occupied by German company BoS who switched production to Hungary and Romania four years ago with the loss of 125 jobs.
Cobra managing director Gary Seale said the company's expansion had already received substantial support from the Welsh government's Repayable Business Finance Scheme.
"Our expansion simply would not have happened without the support and funding we have received which enabled us to test and validate new designs and products as well as equip for Vauxhall's high demand," he said.
The new factory will produce high volume vehicle interior load floors for the new Vauxhall Astra.
Cobra has taken on a number of staff who lost their previous jobs when BoS pulled out of Wrexham.
Mr Seale said the company was hoping to create a further 22 jobs if it receives additional funding from the Welsh Economic Growth Fund.
Staff will start work over Christmas.
