JJB Sports: Four Welsh shops, 43 jobs go as firm collapses
Four JJB Sports stores in Wales are to shut with the loss of 43 jobs as the retailer goes into administration, with 133 shops closing across the UK.
The Cardiff store is the biggest Welsh casualty with the loss of 25 jobs, and shops in Carmarthen, Cwmbran and Haverfordwest will also close.
One member of staff will stay on at each store to help the administrators.
The Llandudno and Rhyl stores, with 17 and 11 staff, are being transferred to Sports Direct.
Across the UK about 2,200 staff at JJB Sports are to be made redundant with the immediate closure of 133 stores.
Sports Direct is buying 20 JJB stores saving 550 jobs, along with the JJB brand and the website.
Wigan-based JJB Sports was hurt by the economic downturn and struggled to compete with Sports Direct.
