Fisherman falls overboard off Pembrokeshire

A man is thought to be in a serious condition after falling overboard from a fishing boat near Milford Haven.

The incident happened at 15:51 GMT four nautical miles south of St Anne's Head, Pembrokeshire.

Coastguards were alerted by the crew of the Spanish-registered fishing boat, the Vidar, by VHF radio.

The Angle RNLI lifeboat and a pilot boat attended. The man was airlifted by RAF Sea King helicopter and flown to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.

The crew of the fishing boat recovered the man on to the deck.

RNLI crewmen went on board and gave first aid until the RAF Sea King helicopter, Rescue 169, from Chivenor, arrived and winched the man on board.
