£200m gas-fired Hirwaun power plan

Help

Plans are being drawn up to build a £200m gas-fired power station in the Cynon Valley.

Developer Hirwaun Power says it hopes the 300 MW plant could be in operation by 2018.

It would be sited at the Hirwaun industrial estate in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Company director George Grant told BBC Radio Wales' Bethan Rhys Roberts on Good Morning Wales that the project was still at a very early stage in the process, and consultation with local communities was vital.
