Witness appeal after Rhoose bypass fatal motorbike crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorbike rider was killed in a head-on crash on a bypass near Cardiff Airport.

The woman, on a red and black Yamaha, suffered fatal injuries on the A4226 at Rhoose, Vale of Glamorgan, at about 22:55 BST on Wednesday.

The crash, with a green Vauxhall Corsa, happened between two roundabouts.

Officers said "numerous" vehicles were leaving the nearby British Airways test beds due to the evening shift change.

South Wales Police said the motorcycle was heading east in the general direction of Barry while the Corsa was travelling in the opposite direction towards St Athan.

The incident happened between the roundabout junction for test beds and the monument roundabout for Cardiff Airport.

Anyone who may have seen the motorbike being ridden on the bypass prior to the collision is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
