A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident in a Wrexham town centre pub, say police.

Officers were called to the Cambrian Vaults in Town Hill, on Wednesday at 00:43 BST following a report that a man had been seriously injured.

A 34-year-old man from the Llay area of Wrexham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The street has been cordoned off while investigations continue.

Police said it is believed the man received fatal injuries inside the pub.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out on Wednesday afternoon and the coroner has been informed.

Senior investigating officer Det Supt Graham Talbot said: "I am appealing for witnesses who were either in the public house between 6pm yesterday and 1.30am today, or in that vicinity - to come forward and provide police with their details."

Police said anyone with information should call the major incident room on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
