Giles Insurance broker creates 117 jobs in Llantrisant

An insurance broker is creating 117 new jobs in south Wales over three years as part of plans to expand the firm.

Llantrisant-based Giles Insurance will centralise the group's UK-wide small and medium enterprises into a centre of excellence.

The firm is putting £6m of its own money into the project and has received £1.13m from the Welsh government.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said financial and professional services were a key sector of the economy.

She added: "The expansion by Giles Insurance will not only provide a boost for the local economy, creating a significant number of well paid jobs but also send out a strong message that Wales is the location of choice for the financial and professional services sector."

Giles Insurance currently has 40 offices and over 1,200 employees across the UK.

The company's regional managing director Mike Jones said: "We are extremely pleased with our Welsh operation.

"There is a tremendous talent pool here and an extremely strong work ethic - which is why we have invested so heavily here.

"Giles' loyal clients have helped give us stability in recent years which has helped us deliver on our commitment to continually invest in them and the people here in Wales. "
