Armed police called after assault in Llanishen, Cardiff

Armed officers were sent to a city suburb after a woman was injured in an assault, say police.

The 30-year-old woman was treated by paramedics in Kimberley Terrace, Llanishen in Cardiff, at around 12:20 BST before being taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man in Trenchard Drive at 13:00 BST.

Officers were seen at nearby Llanishen High School, in Heol Hir, after the attack.

South Wales Police said no one else was injured during the incident and an investigation is under way.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.18pm to reports of a female who had been assaulted on Kimberley Terrace, Llanishen.

"We sent a community first responder, a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene and a female was taken to the University Hospital of Wales."

Police have been telling parents who have been turning up at the school that everyone is safe.
