Hospital smoking ban plan for Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan

3 September 2013 Last updated at 12:37 BST

Cardiff and Vale health board has agreed to ban smoking from all its sites.

It will involve removing smoking shelters and the recruitment of a smoking enforcement officer to support increased patrols by Cardiff Council litter teams.

All other health boards already have a smoking ban in place.

Dr Sian Griffiths, a member of the health board's public health team, put the case to the board, who agreed to bring in the new rules from 1 October.

She spoke to Felicity Evans on Good Morning Wales before the meeting.
