Lower Dee valley flood warning as strong winds due
Emergency services are preparing for exceptionally strong winds across north Wales and have warned people to expect disruptions.
North Wales Police met with other agencies and warn severe weather is likely to affect the north west coast and east to Denbighshire.
Highways officials have closed Flintshire Bridge at Deeside due to concerns.
A flood warning has been issued for the Lower Dee from Llangollen to Wrexham.
Natural Resources Wales warned levels of the Dee were high from Llangollen, Denbighshire, to Trevalyn, Wrexham, with more rain expected.
Wrexham council issued a statement saying the strong winds could also affect the county borough up to about 22:00 GMT on Thursday.
The Met Office has issued an amber "be prepared" warning for 60mph winds inland with the biggest gusts on the north and west Wales coast.
A red warning, meaning "take action," is in place for west and north west Wales where winds reaching 100mph have started to hit this lunchtime.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "As a result of the 'red' severe warnings that are in place across north Wales, a multi-agency response has begun involving all the emergency services, the local authorities and other partners.
"High winds are expected from Barmouth up to and including the coastal areas across Anglesey and as far as Conwy and Denbighshire.
"Travel disruption should be expected and people are advised to check trains and buses."
Highways officials have shut the Flintshire Bridge at Deeside until Thursday morning due to concerns about the severity of the winds.
In Denbighshire, the A547 Rhuddlan-Prestatyn is partially blocked due to flooding near B5119 Waterfall Road, Dyserth.
The wind warning comes after drivers in parts of north east Wales had faced disruption caused by snow and localised flooding.
The flood warning for the Lower Dee Valley is in addition to a lesser flood alert for Bangor on Dee.
