A law firm set up by the long-serving south Wales MP Leo Abse is being sold to one of the UK's largest law firms.

Leo Abse and Cohen, which has offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea as well as the south of England, will be taken over by Slater and Gordon.

Solicitor Leo Abse established the company in 1951, before entering Parliament in 1958 as MP for Pontypool, and later Torfaen, until 1987.

He was responsible for the bill decriminalising homosexual acts.

Mr Abse died in 2008.
