Events mark Welsh Guards' 100 years on St David's Day
The Welsh Guards will be marking its centenary on St David's Day with a number of events in Cardiff Bay.
It was raised on 26 February 1915 by order of King George V to complete the national complement of regiments of Foot Guards identified with the countries of the United Kingdom.
The battalion mounted its first King's Guard at Buckingham Palace on 1 March.
More recently the 1st Battalion has toured Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
Events on Sunday include the Welsh Guards 100 marathon, a church service at the Wales Millennium Centre and a parade in the bowl of the bay.
