Celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl's birth are to feature in Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall's summer visit to Wales.

They will meet children exploring the author's work in Cardiff and host a Dahl evening at their summer retreat in Llwynywermod, Carmarthenshire.

The prince will also open Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences.

The duchess will visit a pony show in Crickhowell, Powys, to see efforts made to conserve Welsh hill ponies.

Other engagements will see the prince start the Llandovery Motorbike Festival in Carmarthenshire and visit a clogmaker in Criccieth, Gwynedd.

The week-long visit from 4-8 July will see the couple undertake 20 engagements and support the work of their charities, including the Prince's Trust, PRIME Cymru and Emmaus UK, which helps homeless people.
