Police warning over smashed glass on New Quay beach

Several people have been injured by glass, which has been deliberately smashed and left on a Ceredigion beach.

Dyfed-Powys Police said bottles had been discarded near New Quay lifeboat station throughout the summer.

They urged the culprits to stop their "reckless behaviour" before someone was seriously injured.

Police said the lifeboat station had CCTV and footage was being analysed. People with information can contact the force on 101.

Fragments have been found on and near the beach.

Sgt Carwyn Templeton of Lampeter police said: "I would urge whoever is responsible for this totally unnecessary and reckless behaviour to stop before anyone sustains a seriously injury.

"Naturally, the beach at New Quay is frequented by a lot of children who play in this area in the day and may not see the glass sticking out of the sand."
