Warning on Powys 'mystery shopper' scam
Police are warning the public about a financial "scam" after several people in Powys fell victim to it.
Bogus advertisements are being placed in local and national newspapers recruiting mystery shoppers to rate a bank or restaurant.
Dyfed-Powys Police have received a number of complaints and urged people to be careful.
Officers warned people not to send money in such circumstances or reveal their bank details.
Ch Insp Martin Tavener said: "We are urging members of the community in Powys to be vigilant following this scam.
"Please stop and think carefully before sending any money or giving your personal details in these type of circumstances, and remember, if it looks too good to be true then it probably is.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people not to disclose any personal bank details over the phone and to remember to shred any documents containing confidential information."
Police said a number of people had responded to the newspaper advertisements.
