Police plea after series of vandal attacks in Knighton

Police have urged people in a small Powys town to join the fight against the "scourge" of vandalism after a series of attacks.

Ten incidents have been reported in Knighton in a little over a week.

Pc Bill Cowan is calling on people to report any wrongdoing.

"Knighton is a small town where everyone knows everyone and if we all took the time to play our part then this type of behaviour would be greatly reduced," he said.

Pc Cowan said: "It is a shame that such a blight has descended upon Knighton in recent weeks as apart from this scourge of vandalism and anti-social behaviour the town is a relatively crime free zone and a pleasant place to live.

"The drive against anti-social behaviour can only be won if everyone accepts responsibility for tackling it.

"If you see something happening that you consider to be unacceptable then you are in effect condoning it if you take no action. Report it to your local police."

Incidents have included the smashing of a church window, and cars have also been targeted.

People with information can contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 101. Pc Cowan can also be e-mailed at bill.cowan@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk
