Man remanded over attack after Newtown death

A man charged with attacking a 62-year-old Powys man who subsequently died has been remanded in custody.

The body of Thomas Morgan was found at his home in Robins Square, Newtown, at 2130 GMT on Monday, 10 January.

Christopher Joseph Cluskey was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and he appeared at Brecon magistrates' court last Friday.

He was remanded in custody until next Friday, 21 January, when he will appear at Mold Crown Court.

Detectives are trying to piece together Mr Morgan's movements, and it is now believed he left his home on the Maesyrhandir estate last Monday morning.

People who saw Mr Morgan between 1600 GMT on 9 January and 2200 GMT on 10 January are asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
