Burst water main affects 400 Ceredigion homes
A burst water main is affecting water supplies to about 400 homes at Llanbadarn Fawr near Aberystwyth.
Repair work is also causing traffic tailbacks as people leave work from Aberystwyth for the weekend.
The live six-inch diameter water main was fractured during underground moling by contractors working for Ceredigion Council.
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water estimates that water supplies should begin returning to normal during the evening.
The water main was burst at the Parc-y-llyn roundabout which is on one of the main arterial routes to and from the town.
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is working with the contractor to carry out emergency repairs.
A water company spokesman said: "As supplies begin to return, some customers may notice a slight discoloration to their tap water.
"This is to be expected following an incident of this nature and should clear within a short period of time."
A Ceredigion Council spokesman said: "There will inveitably be traffic disruption.
"We are doing our utmost to resolve matters as quickly as possible and apologise for the inconvenience caused."
Anyone with concerns about their water should call Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water's operational helpline on 0800 052 0130.
