Man remanded over Lewis Clarke murder in Llanidloes

A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a teenager at Llanidloes in Powys.

Lewis Clarke, who was 19 and from Newtown, died in hospital after an incident at Plynlimon House in Long Bridge Street, on Saturday.

Blaine Daniel Kirkham, 20, also from Newtown, spoke only to confirm his name and address at Llandrindod Wells magistrates court on Wednesday.

He will appear in Mold Crown Court on Friday.

Earlier, in a family tribute, Mr Clarke's father, Sean Clarke, said: "We as a family are absolutely heartbroken and devastated at the loss of our Lewis."

He said they were shocked and struggling to come to terms with his death.

"He was much loved by many people, and we were all very proud of him," said Mr Clarke.

His son had been due to join the Royal Navy in November, and had interests in music and acting.
