Firefighters tackle barn blaze in Hendomen, Powys

A fire crew remains at the scene of a large barn blaze at Montgomery in Powys.

At the height of the blaze 30 firefighters were needed to tackle the blaze on Thursday evening.

The steel building, measuring 30m by 20m, at Longlands farm in Hendomen, contained 250 bales of hay.

The alarm was raised at 17:17 GMT and five fire engines from Montgomery, Welshpool and Newtown went to the scene.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said asbestos was present in the roof of the barn.

It said one crew remained at the scene on Friday damping down the site.
