Firefighters are investigating the cause of a late night blaze at a restaurant and shop in Newtown, Powys.

The fire at the Spar store on Broad Street and the Gulshan Indian restaurant above it started at about 23:40 GMT on Tuesday.

Six crews took two hours to tackle the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Services said everyone was accounted for and there were no injuries.

Crews from Newtown, Welshpool, Montgomery, Llanidloes, Llanfair Caereinion and Aberystwyth went to the fire.

Eight officers wearing breathing apparatus tackled the seat of the fire using an aerial platform.

Crews also used thermal imaging cameras.
