Motorcyclist dies after A40 accident in Powys

A motorcyclist has died and a motorist is in a critical condition following a crash on the A40 in Powys.

The accident involving a bike and a Subaru vehicle happened at 11:50 GMT on Sunday between Sennybridge and Trecastle.

Dyfed-Powys Police say the male motorcyclist, who was from Pontypridd, and the female driver from Brecon were taken to hospital.

Any witnesses are asked to contact officers on 101.

"The rider of the bike and the driver of the car were both taken to hospital but unfortunately the rider later died from his injuries," said roads policing Inspector Dyfed Bolton.

"The driver of the car is still critical at Morriston Hospital."

He confirmed next of kin have been informed.
