Police say they are increasingly concerned for the safety of a missing 78-year-old man from Powys.

John William Davies, from Machynlleth. was last seen in the Taliesin area of Aberystwyth at around 10:00 GMT on 12 March.

At that time he was in possession of a maroon coloured Rover 45 - registration W163 GEJ, said Dyfed-Powys Police.

He is described as being 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim build with greying, mousey hair.

Mr Davies was wearing a fawn coloured corduroy trousers, fawn coloured countryman shirt, camel v-neck long sleeved top and brown leather deck shoes.

"To date our inquiries have drawn a blank," said Inspector Lynn Rees from Dyfed Powys Police.

"There have been sightings of Mr Davies reported in Talybont, Aberystwyth and Borth areas on Monday morning, but there has been no trace of him or his car since that time."

Insp Rees said officers were increasingly concerned about Mr Davies' welfare and are hoping members of the public may be able to help us build up a picture of where Mr Davies has been since Monday.

Dyfed-Powys Police said anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact the police at Aberystwyth on 101.
