Aberdovey crew hurt as fire engine crashes on its side in field

Two firefighters have been injured after their appliance crashed into a field and ended up on its side, near Aberdovey, Gwynedd.

The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service tender was returning to the station from an earlier incident when the crash happened on the A493 at Pennal at 17:20 BST on Friday.

They were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Aberdovey fire station is crewed by retained firefighters.

An investigation is under way.

Firefighters from Machynlleth were at the scene, along with officers from North Wales Police.

In 2008, another fire engine from Aberdovey was involved in a crash.

The appliance involved in that accident was en route to assist another incident in the area when it happened.

Two firefighters were taken to hospital, one with head injuries and the other leg injuries.
